Performing Arts Production Workshop
Posted: June 23rd, 2009 | Author: hourigan | Filed under: Work | Tags: Multimedia, Travel, Work | No Comments »I’m going to be attending the Performing Arts Production Workshop in Trieste, Italy. It is being organised by TERENA, Internet2 and GARR.
“GARR will host the TERENA and Internet2 hands-on audio/video production workshop that will be held on 13-15 July 2009, at the Music Conservatory of Trieste, Italy. The workshop is meant to be the first in a series of annual events emphasising the equipment and staffing requirements for interactive performing arts education, multi-site performance events, and high quality netcasting over advanced networks.”
The workshop is intended to train people how to broadcast a live event. It covers video and audio production, along with encoding and streaming.
It is unusual; when you work for a National Research and Education Network (NREN), you use the phrase “bandwidth is not a problem”. It can be difficult to get this idea across to a vendor that you want a 1Gbit/s stream not a 1Mbit/s video stream. The workshop will be covering the higher end of streaming, no YouTube quality stuff here.
