Migration to a new server

Posted: August 19th, 2009 | Author: hourigan | Filed under: Websites | Tags: | 3 Comments »

I have completed the migration to a new server. Both servers are hosted in Hetzner.

Old Server: DS 3000
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600+ Dual Core
RAM: 2 GB DDR2
Storage: 2 x 400 GB SATA II

New Server: EQ 4
CPU: Intel® Core™ i7-920 Quadcore
RAM: 8 GB DDR3
Storage: 2 x 750 GB SATA-II HDD

Both servers have 2TB transfer per month and both cost €50 per month.

I have already noticed that the scripts to regenerate the pages on scaryideas.com are running much faster.

    Hi Justin,

I see you used the hetzner server i recommended to you. How have you been finding them to deal with and use?

    Hi Shane,

Thanks for the recommendation. I find Hetzner very good. I have upgrade server models twice since signing up. On the EQ4 model now. I am thinking of using Amazon’s CloudFront as a CDN for some of my content.

    take a look at ngz-server.de
    they are better than hetzner.

everthink is possible like clustering, ….
    and they are cheap, too.

my site http://www.juliaco.com is hosted there.
